Meet the Farmer Behind Peony Orchard Farm: A Dream Turned Reality

Hello, I'm Carla, the proud owner and farmer behind Peony Orchard Farm. My journey into farming began with a simple dream—to provide fresh produce for my family while nurturing a connection to the land. After years of contemplation, I reached the "If not now, when?" stage of my life, and in 2022, I decided to take action.

From Dream to Reality

Equipped with a bachelor's degree in finance and a master's in human resources, I embarked on a new path by enrolling in classes on urban farming and growing. Armed with knowledge and determination, I found a space to rent and began turning my dream into a reality.

A Vision for the Future

While Peony Orchard Farm is currently a solo endeavor, my ultimate goal is to transform it into a family-owned business, much like the many beautiful farms that dot the landscape of Illinois. My oldest daughter is already showing signs of becoming a talented floral designer, and I envision a future where we work together to cultivate our land and share its bounty with others.

Life Beyond the Farm

When I'm not tending to my crops or nurturing my family's dreams, you'll likely find me spending quality time with my two beautiful daughters. As a lover of animals, I have a soft spot for dogs, although I currently share my home with a rescued cat who stole our hearts as a kitten.

Finding Balance

While farming is my passion, I believe in the importance of finding balance in life. When I need to unwind, you'll often catch me indulging in my guilty pleasure—watching romantic comedies on TV. After all, even the busiest farmer deserves a little downtime now and then.
